In-Box Review
54mm
Medieval Portion of Wall

by: Costas Rodopoulos [ MAJOR_GOOSE ]

Disclaimer: The images above were supplied by the manufacturer and painted by their artists.

Introduction:

Included in Pegaso Models’ “PegasObjects” range of products is an amazing range of figure bases, which can be used both as scenery parts or complete scenes. Currently only available in 54mm, I am pretty sure that Pegaso will soon answer the call for some scenery in 75mm or even 90mm.

These bases are sculpted by high skilled artists, who might also sculpt figures (e.g. Victor Konnov or Luca Piergentilli) or specialize only in scenic sculpting, like Christos Apostolopoulos.

Victor Konnov sculpts the subject of this review, ASS-012 Medieval portion of wall.

Boxing:

The kit comes in a sturdy dark colored carton box. The box-art, painted by Davide Decina, shows a painted kit, which serves as a painting guide. The box is filled with paper strips as protection for the 2 resin pieces, which are inside a zip locker plastic bag.

The Kit:

Consisting of only 2 pieces, this is of the simpler kits and presents a medieval wall – well actually a small section of it. The 2 pieces are the upright wall and a base (ground) section.

Quality:

The kit is sculpted absolutely nicely, detailed and with no exaggerations. The wall stones texture is pretty fine and will help the painter to have a nice result. The ground part includes some dirt texture and few stones near the base of the wall.

The casting (done from the Greek company YS Castings - Masterpieces) is absolutely flawless with no air holes or anything else that has to be corrected. A thin casting line will be easily saved with a fresh blade with one pass.

Fit:

The kit is really simple and it comes together even simpler with some glue between the 2 pieces. The result is a corner shaped scenic for any medieval or other figure with no need of further addition.

I used the kit for scenery, with Pegaso Models’ 54-152 Saint John Order Knight, Beginning of the XIV Century, as it can be seen in my On-Display feature. The painting was done over 2 evenings with acrylics and some pigments for dusting.

Conclusion:

One pretty nice and useful little kit, that will make a base making a piece of cake for the inexperienced modeler, and will also save some time for the experienced for making the base himself. Suggested for all ranks of modeling capability. You will be “Pegaso Satisfied”!

About Costas Rodopoulos (Major_Goose)
FROM: KIKLADHES, GREECE / Ελλάδα

I started modelling 27 years ago with some 1/72 planes and military vehicles. Soon the diorama bug got into me and with Sheperd Paynes books I dug in. I loved to build dioramas and military vehicles till the Vietnam Era. I don't like modern stuff so much. 4 years ago I had a crush on figure painti...

Hi Costas, What are the approximate dimensions of the wall section of the base? It looks to be about 10mm thick x 50mm long x 40mm high... Thanks for the review. Rudi
