Introduction
Committed to their company motto, “The ancient World in your hands”, Spanish company Ares Mythologic focuses on high quality ancient and mythological personalities.
The subject of this review is a female mythological character: AM-54T-75 Greek Amazon, a 54mm white metal miniature.
The Amazon, sculpted by Eduard Pérez with the box-art by Jose Jarque, is in a dynamic running or advancing pose while pointing with her spear – perhaps pointing to an exposed flank or the enemy.
The kit
A dark red hard carton box with inside zipper plastic bag and inside this foam protection holds safely all 7 white metal pieces of the figure.
The 7 pieces are comprised of the following:
The Torso with 1 foot and head
Left arm
Right arm holding spear
Small piece of cloth
Shield
Crest for the helmet
Small round baseA leaflet containing few lines of information, 2 pictures of the painted figure and the contact information for the company is included.
Quality and Detail
The figure is well sculpted with the various parts of the figure crisply defined.
The arms will need to be pinned in order to secure them properly to the body and hold them firmly in position.
The white metal material is good and the surfaces are relatively smooth and clean. There are some light molding lines prevalent on the external parts of the feet that will require minor attention with a sharp blade. Other than that, you will just need a soft touch with fine steel wool to polish the metal. After that, just a gentle wash with a mild detergent will finish off the cleaning prior to priming.
Painting
This is a relatively easy figure to paint despite it having a fair amount of flesh. I think anyone interested in this particular subject or Greek mythology will enjoy painting this figure.
Conclusion – Final Verdict
Ares Mythologic releases good quality, fairly unique subjects that really do give the miniaturist something different to paint. This Greek Amazon is no different.
