All,
To put it bluntly, this site is in need of some serious help. Engin Kayral (Graywolf) has been the only active staffer for some time now, and officially he is now all alone on the staff roster. We could obviously use some assistance from within or outside our community to reinvigorate the site and the forums.

If you have time please take a minute to either respond to this survey about HFM and your online experiences, reply to this thread, or both.

http://survey.kitmaker.net/fillsurvey.php?sid=8

And if you are interested in helping out please contact me and I would be happy to discuss with you the ins-and-outs of being a volunteer staffer.

I will be looking to recruit both a Managing Editor (who will control virtually all aspects of the site and mange the staff) and Associate Editors (who work on adding content like news, reviews, feature articles and more). As many past staffers will attest, this is not for the meek of heart. It is a volunteer job, but has its perks and rewards like most do.

For the record this site may not be growing as fast as some of our other scale modeling sites, but it is growing. Over 110,000 unique visitors came to HFM last year (2009). About 12,000 on average per month. If that was a magazines circulation number (for scale modeling) it would be right up there with most of them. So nothing to be ashamed of in other words...

Thanks,
Jim

Hi all,

First off, a huge thank you and well done to Engin for holding the fort and maintaining the high standards HF sets in terms of quality figure reviews, features and a top-notch, friendly, albeit small community. This site, Historicus Forma, has never really suffered the drama which seems to plague so many other modelling forums, and in my books that's a great feat attributable to this close-knit community.

As a former staffer I can honestly say: volunteer! Being a part of this site is incredibly rewarding and a fantastic way to pay it forward to not only the current generation of miniaturists, but future generations as well.

You don't need to be the worlds greatest figure modeller (anyone that's seen any of my figures will know what I mean ) to serve on the editorial staff; you do need a level-head, be computer savvy, be prepared to give up some time, but most of all: be passionate about miniatures.

If you're not up to editing there are other ways you can volunteer to this site. This site is always looking for discussion group hosts, those folks knowledgable (and, in the case of technique DGs, well-experienced) in the DG subject.

If you're really not keen on such a commitment, simply submitting reviews, display features, or even participating in our forums (discussion groups) will help.

C'mon folks - let's bring the passion back to HF!

R~

Jim,guys,
Not that my life is settling back down, I can put some time back to Armorama/HFM like I did at the beginning of this sight. I can't put 100%, but I can put in about 80%+.

80%...? That is a great offer my friend. I believe HFM will be better with a lesser effort. Thanks a lot

I'm not the greatest figure painter in the world, but i will try and help out where ever I can.
I have some things/ideas to add to the sight, but I need to gather all the pics and info first.

Jim,
This website is a great resource for any modeler out there, and I have gained a whole lot just from reading the amazing pieces you guys put together and scrounging the forums for tips. I've offered up a few photo submissions that have been accepted and I will be submitting a few more things in the future.

I'm too busy to do the editing stuff, but given that I'm an English teacher, I'm decent writer and if you need reviews written I'd be happy to help. PM if you think that'd be something you'd need.

Thanks,
RT

Hi

I've been dipping in and out of HF for the past 18 months now but havnt contributed anything more than the odd comment as my wife and I had our first child 12 months ago so all modelling went out of the window. Things are back on an even keel now and Im hoping to start some modelling again very shortly. Hopefully I'll be able to put some photos of my builds on. Im comming back to modelling after a long break (more than 15 years) so I cant promise much.

Would like to say I've always found this site very friendly and helpful, so anything I can do in my small way to help I will.

Thanks everyone for your offers of help and input. We can use all the help that you are willing to give so yes please do send reviews and be assured I will be contacting everyone who posts an interest in this thread. It may not be tomorrow or even this week (going off to SCAHMS this weekend), but trust me getting HFM back on track is a top prioriry for me as my time permits.

Now if I just didn't have my regular 40hr a week job to deal with...

Cheers,
Jim

Jim,
I think I could help in some way. I'm not sure if I'm the right person to take a duty of Editor (mostly because of insufficient language ability) but I can try. I don't have much work so I can share working time with HF.
Pls feel free to contact me if find my offer interesting.

Hi!
I'd be glad to help somehow as well. I could help with campaings or reviews or something... I don't know - where would you need me?
I don't have much experience with internet websites but I'm a quick learner

I've forgot to mention - I have some graphic skills (you can find my banners made for campaings (and also users) around here and Armorama from time to time) - maybe I could be helpful on this area?

Hey, guys
I just sent a personal message to Jim, in which I volunteered to help out in an way he sees fit.
I have a background in the newspaper business as a writer, editor and newsroom manager for a mid-size daily newspaper. I've been modeling as an adult for about 15 years and focus mainly on dioramas, of which figures are only a portion of my projects. Nonetheless, I believe I can be of assistance to this amazing site. Hopefully, Jim can match my abilities to the site's needs.
Thanks,
Randy
